2023 Wedding Trend - ALL THE COLOR!

Did you know that one of the trends for 2023 is lots of color?

I WANTED TO THROW IT BACK TO JULY 2021 FOR JESSICA AND SHELBY’S WEDDING BECAUSE I THINK THIS WILL GIVE YOU SOOOO MUCH INSPO FOR ADDING SOME COLOR INTO YOUR WEDDING DAY!

Jessica and Shelby were a dream to work with. Although they had to postpone two times due to covid, they made the most out of planning and didn’t let it put a drab on their big day! Check out their day below and get to know them some more from the Q&A I had with them!

THE MEEKERMARK

WHAT IS YOUR LOVE STORY?

Shelby and I first met in college because we were in the same campus ministry. We knew of each other but were not close until senior year of college when he invited me to be a part of his IM flag football team. That team and season were super fun, and I began to notice the hot flag football captain that would bring us smoothies to early morning practice and loan me his sweater when the weather was cold. Even though we lost the championships, I had so much fun I ended up reaching out to him to thank him for the wonderful season. We kept chatting...and chatting...and chatting and kind of just never stopped. We made the most of the rest of college-long chats together at the 360 Bridge, geocaching throughout Austin, eating our way through multiple food trucks, late night movie fests, and have never really looked back.

HOW DID HE PROPOSE?

He coordinated with my close friends a "birthday weekend" in Austin for one of my friends including getting our nails done and a geocache hunt that led us to some pretty familiar places...I quickly realized that all the locations were significant to Shelby and I's story. It culminated at the 360 Bridge in Austin where he had left letters along a pathway leading to a laptop with a video compiled of all our friends and family. When the video ended, I turned around and he was there on one knee. We got to celebrate later that evening with a surprise party with all our loved ones. It was honestly such a magical weekend, and he really did manage to surprise me.

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO HIRE A PLANNER/COORDINATOR?

I initially had not planned on hiring a coordinator. I honestly didn't even know what that meant. When we booked the Meekermark they told us that they required a day of coordinator for their brides. Initially, I didn't see why I would need one, but after hiring Sierra for month of coordination, it was 1000% worth it. I had so many questions and concerns (covid bride probs) and having someone who knew what they were doing to guide me in the right direction was a game changer. Having a coordinator day of also meant that I didn't have to worry about a single thing from vendors, to decor, to the schedule. It was all covered.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF WEDDING PLANNING?

The things I got to do with people-trying on wedding dresses, cake and food tasting, practicing dancing with Shelby prior to the wedding.

WHERE DID YOU FIND YOUR BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES AND TUXES?

Dresses were from Revelry in Austin and suits were from Suit Supply

WHAT WERE SOME OF THE PERSONAL TOUCHES YOU PUT THROUGHOUT YOUR WEDDING AND WHY?

I knew I wanted an overabundance of flowers to celebrate my parents and the garden they always cultivated together growing up. I wanted to celebrate my dad. Even though he wasn't there physically, I wanted his memory to be present. I was able to find the video of him and I dancing at his wedding and play the same song with that video playing while I danced with my two brothers and mother.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY OF THE WEDDING DAY AND WHY?

It's hard to describe the feeling of things, but my favorite thing was having all my loved ones gather together to celebrate us. It was overwhelming the feeling and gratitude I had that so many people loved us that they would come all the way out to be with us as we celebrated together. It was definitely the most love-filled day ever and I'm so glad I got to talk to every person who chose to be there with us.

DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS/ADVICE TO SHARE WITH COUPLES GETTING MARRIED?

Let your wedding day unfold as it will and don't stress the small things. It will be a wonderful, beautiful, magical memory, and you won't remember the small things that went wrong or they will be funny memories down the line. Also I highly recommend finding a photographer and videographer you love. Photos and videos I love really bring me back and help me relive the most wonderful day of my life.
